Ion 3 - Commands

I have been using Ion3 as my tiling interface. I have grown quite fond of it, and it is extremely effective when you don't want to hassle with a mouse. The question I have for anyone who might know, is how do I create aliases to put commands in. The run command calls the programs through the bourne shell, and not the Bourne Again Shell. I have tried editing the ~/profile, /etc/profile, and all of the different .bashrc's to see if I could get them to sync, but with no success. Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, the Bourne shell doesn't support aliases.

From Wikipedia:
Aliases were absent from the Bourne shell, which had the more powerful facility of functions. The alias concept was imported into Bourne Again Shell (bash) and the Korn shell (ksh).

Also more supporting info here.
