On January 15th, Facebook announced their new Facebook Graph Search function which allows users to find people with similarities with themselves (such as interests, location, etc). However, it seems this new feature has a few issues.

Tom Scott, a web comedian, created a website called Actual Facebook Graph Searches which demonstrates some of these issues. It is apparently possible, and quite easy, to find potentially embarrassing personal information about your friends by using Facebook Graph Search.

Facebook Graph Search is basically a search engine which provides a series of options to refine people lists. By using these options, one can easily find some interesting facts such as "Married people who like Prostitutes" and "Mothers of Jews who like Bacon".

Tom Scott's statement about the purpose of his site is: "Facebook does have good privacy settings: but there are many, many people who don't know how to use them!", and that people really have the tendency to share far too much information about themselves and their friends.
