Hundreds of Apple fans lined up outside stores as the new iPhone 4S was released to the market Friday October 14th.

Thousands of excited new users rushed home to active their new toys. Those using AT&T service were greeted with a fun little message saying: "It may take up to 3 minutes to activate your iPhone". And after half an hour many still sat there staring at that screen. And after a few hours many still were greeted by an even more fun error message: "Your activation is still pending. You will receive an email notification once your activation is complete. We're sorry. There was a problem connecting to the server. Please try again later". All the while, those on Verizon and Sprint had no issues at all.

This isn't the first time AT&T has had this problem either. In 2007 when the iPhone was first released many users had to wait for more than a full day for the activation of their product. Now that AT&T is no longer the sole provider for the iPhone incidents like these could potentially damage their user base.
